DVPG History
1960’s
Delaware Valley Shipping & Packaging Supply Company was founded on December 18th, 1967, by brothers-in-law Stephen J. Kiszely and Thomas B. DiPaolo. Their goal for the company was to ‘find a better way’ to serve their customers with quality products and exceptional service and to build lasting relationships. Within the first week of business, Amoroso Baking Company placed the first official order for one case of Filament Tape and remains a customer as of today. By January 1968, Kiszely and DiPaolo opened our first office and warehouse at 140 Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia, and just a year later, expanded operations to a new location at 115 South Letitia Street in Old City section of Philadelphia.
1970’s
Even more expansion was on the horizon in the early 1970’s when DVPG purchased their first delivery truck and moved to an even larger facility at 2015 Kinsey Street in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. In 1972, the company formally incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania. As business continued to grow the need for a larger facility became vitally important and in 1973 Kiszely and DiPaolo purchased land in Bucks County and began construction of their new office and warehouse located at 4106 Blanche Road in Bensalem, PA the following year. Their growth enabled them to hire more employees in all aspects of their business including warehouse, delivery, sales and customer service to expand their products and services.
1980’s
In 1980, Delaware Valley Shipping & Packaging Supply hosted the first-ever Open House for customers and vendors at our Bensalem location. In 1984, we made our first acquisition by purchasing Pack & Seal of Trenton, NJ. This expansion allowed us to extend our reach and capabilities into central New Jersey. By 1986, DVPG was running out of space and decided to add an addition doubling the size of the Bensalem PA facility and made the decision to consolidate operations by moving Pack & Seal into our main facility. In 1987, we celebrated our 20th anniversary and renamed the company ‘Delaware Valley Pack & Seal’ to reflect on our continued evolution as a company.
1990’s
The 1990s saw the celebration of our 25th Anniversary in 1992 and welcomed Stephen T. Kiszely to the sales team. In 1995, we acquired Brown Shipping Supply Co. of Croydon, PA, and through that acquisition, became a distributor for Marsh Inkjet Products, establishing our Marking & Coding Division. During this time, we were recognized by Kellogg’s as a Valued Supplier and Key Contributor to their Muncy, PA facility and received the Kellogg’s Valued Supplier Award. In 1997, we acquired B&H Industries of Cherry Hill, NJ, which allowed us to expand our capabilities and coverage deeper into South Jersey. To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we held another Open House which coincided with renaming the company as ‘Delaware Valley Packaging Group’, reflecting our continued growth allowing us to expand the products and enhance our service capabilities to support our customers.
2000’s
After doubling in size in the 1990’s, future expansion would be required to support our growing company. In July of 2000, DVPG moved into our current office and distribution center located at 1425 Wells Drive, Bensalem, PA. This expansion tripled our facility size and warehousing capabilities. We celebrated this milestone with an Open House in September 2000 and the opening of our Packaging Equipment Showroom. In 2001, we received The United Group’s Gold Medal Award for Industrial Packaging. In 2002, we were honored to win The Family Business of the Year Award presented by the Wharton School of Business. This recognition for both the Kiszely and DiPaolo families was especially gratifying to share with their employees and partners which could not be achieved without their support. Later in the decade Stephen J. Kiszely became CEO, Thomas B. DiPaolo CFO and Stephen T. Kiszely was promoted to President in 2006. As we celebrated our 40th Anniversary in 2007, DVPG was awarded the FoxJet Regency Award, recognized as their fastest-growing distributor in the country.
2010’s
In 2010, DVPG successfully established an environmental management system to meet the requirements of the Sony Green Partner Program. In 2015, FoxJet once again recognized DVPG with the Regency Award for being the fastest-growing FoxJet Distributor. In 2016, we were recognized as the Top Distributor for Sealed Air in the region, and in 2017, we marked 50 years in business with a celebration on December 18th, 2017, exactly fifty years to the day from our beginning. Later in the decade, DVPG received Loveshaw’s Top Distributor Award for the Mid-Atlantic Region for Little David Equipment, and the United Group’s Silver Award Winner for Industrial Packaging in 2018. Then in 2019, the New Jersey Food Processing Association honored Stephen J. Kiszely with their Presidents Award for his significant contributions to the association for over 20 years. DVPG’s commitment to the Packaging Industry enabled us to be invited to participate in Distributor Councils for Sealed Air Corporation and FoxJet in addition to appointments to The Board of Directors of The United Group and Product Identification Network.
2020’s
Starting their 7th decade in business, the company developed a new marketing strategy and rebranding initiative in 2022 to showcase our growth as a company. Our new tagline “Your Products, Our Solutions, Packaging Done Right” was launched to show how our company has evolved over the years to continue the tradition of serving our customers. Then in 2023 with our knowledge and understanding of the complexities within the aerospace industry DVPG launched their Aerospace Division along with the dvshieldtape.com website to provide a wide range of solutions for the fast-growing space flight satellite industry. In 2024 Connor Kiszely, a 3rd Generation of the Kiszely family, joined the company to carry on the legacy of his predecessors established back in 1967. And in 2025 DVPG was awarded GOLD Partner Status by Leibinger.
